Minnesota Food Share began its work in 1982 with a campaign advanced by congregations to restock food shelves in the 7 county Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. The effort was so successful and the need was so evident, the March Campaign became a statewide program just one year later.
The Minnesota Food Share March Campaign is the only kind in the United States where all food shelves, congregations, corporation and individuals in MN work together for one cause.
Alden Area Food Shelf, at Redeemer, has participated in the Campaign for many years. Every Dollar collected locally goes directly to the Alden Area Food Shelf and the number of clients served will determine the percentage dollars we receive from MN Food Share. Last year 1438 people were served locally with 30,342 pounds of food distributed. The backpack program currently has 59 students enrolled and they receive about 2 pounds of food every Friday.
Thanks for helping to fill the shelves at the Alden Area Food Shelves.
Donations can be sent to Alden Area Food Shelf 191 Water St., Alden and non-perishable food item may be dropped off at Redeemer.
There will be a collection for the food shelf Sunday March 31st during worship, please give generously.
